Elephanta Island Mumbai is one of the rare site that a metropolitan city is expected to exhibit. Ferry rides from gateway of India takes one to the island. The history lovers may find the island very interesting with all the Hindu and Buddhist caves. Every monday the caves are closed to visitors. If you have a spare day in Mumbai and don't know what to do with it, paying a visit to this Elephanta island will be a very good use of your time. The ferry ride on the Arabian sea takes around one hour and it is a very pleasant experience.
When I relocated from Kolkata to Mumbai, I brought with me luggage weighing 49.9kg. I remember the sigh of relief that me, my husband and the lady at the ticketing counter at the airport released.
