Bill Bensley at the intersection of fine arts, conservation and sustainability

Bill Bensley and his projects (Bensley.com) in the realm of interior designing, landscaping and architecture are known across the world. He and his team have worked in the hospitality industry bringing in sustainability with every design they work on. Of late, the creative has found a new interest in the genre of fine arts.

In 2020, as the pandemic and the ensuing lockdowns confined the world to their homes, Bill acquired his taste in fine arts and experimented with the fauvist style. In the compounds of Baan Botanica, Bill’s home in Bangkok, he has built a glasshouse painting studio. Bill has a collection of nearly 100 paintings—each brushstroke plays a role in bringing together the story unfolding on the canvas. Through mediums of acrylic, pastels, oil and water colour the artist is on a creative ride.

The proceeds from selling his artwork is directly pumped into Shinta Mani Foundation and Wildlife Alliance. The former is an organization that is dedicated to eradicating poverty in rural Cambodia by providing sustainable support in the form of free education, healthcare and improving livelihood. The latter is an NGO that works to conserve nature and biodiversity.

The loggers and poachers had a free run in the lockdown wreaking havoc in different forests of the world. The 865-acres of jungle and wildlife surrounding the sustainable accommodation of Bensley Collection – Shinta Mani Wild in Cambodia is, however, protected by armed rangers of the Wildlife Alliance. The second Bensley Outsider Gallery is scheduled in February 2021 at Intercontinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort in Danang, Vietnam.
