How Thailand’s ASQ (Alternative State Quarantine) works for foreign tourists and golfers

It is still possible to tour Thailand but only after a person arriving from a foreign country undergoes mandatory quarantine. To make the process hassle-free 123 ASQ hotels are now available under public-private partnership with thoughtful intervention by Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT). The packages offer flexibility and are designed to suit all pockets.

The quarantine deals involve accommodation for 15 nights and 16 days, one-way airport transfer, 3 meals a day, twice a day body temperature checks, a standby nurse and 2-3 COVID-19 tests. The first test is conducted after 3-4 days, if the result is negative the guest is allowed to roam around the property’s common area for an hour every day. At the end of the 12th day, the second test is conducted.

During the quarantine phase alcohol and food delivery is not permitted.

There is a special deal for golfers. Golf aficionados can opt to quarantine at one of the six government-certified golf resorts. They are located in the following regions—

Kanchanaburi: Mida Golf Club, Evergreen Hills Golf Club, Blue Star Golf Course

Nakhon Nayok: Artitaya Golf & Resort

Phetchaburi: Sawang Resort and Golf Club

Chiang Mai: Artitaya Chiang Mai Golf & Resort

Foreign golfers at the six government-certified golf resorts are not restricted to their rooms. They are allowed to play golf within the resort and enjoy its common areas at their own expense. The lack of rush in golf courses is a boon as with less contenders, golfers can experience the sport in a leisurely pace.
